Here, I look at how stable coronaviruses are on a variety of environmental surfaces.
The message is clear:
- Coronaviruses are fairly stable and can survive for several hours to days on a variety of surfaces in the cool weather currently prevalent in HK.
- In addition to mask wearing, hand hygiene is important to prevent coronavirus infection.
- Degowning after caring for confirmed cases must be carefully supervised.
- Environmental disinfection of healthcare settings and public areas is important. Close toilet lids before flushing!
